Hi, I’m Becca!
I'm Becca (she/her) and I'm incredibly excited to welcome you to Penny&Petals!
Ever since I was little, flowers and nature have been a constant in my life. Both my mum and my gran are amazing gardeners, and I spent weekends and summers climbing the apple tree and hiding in the woodland at the back of my gran's garden up in North Yorkshire. From an early age, they made sure I understood the importance of providing a place for nature to flourish and how flowers can make a huge difference to your well being.
I've been lucky enough to have spent the last eight years building my dream career in events, having worked at Victoria Baths in Manchester as their Events Coordinator, as well as freelancing at different music and beer festivals throughout the year. But after years of debating it, I finally decided it was time to do the thing I kept thinking about, and make the jump into floristry. After trying to juggle everything and being frustrated at not having the time to really focus on the business, I left my events job in March 2027 and switched to being fully self employed.
Alongside starting the floristry business, I also set up a growing plot at Marbury Road Edible Garden in Heaton Chapel in September 2024. Being able to use British flowers is something I believe in strongly, so I grow lots of dark and unusual colours that I use in my designs. Things escalated quickly, and I’m now the chair of the garden and take responsibility for overseeing the work being done by the project. You can find out more about it here.
